I just want to say that addictions directly related to traumas don't usually follow this smooth line to recovery. Most of us wish it would but addiction is pretty irrational for the most part. Understanding that reality includes growing our own education, empathy & compassion for folks who struggle more than we do. I actually consider it a privilege that I'm only struggling with trying to quit cigarettes & not something much harsher. I do my best to not judge people struggling with bigger addictions & personal traumas.
