But the "Nothing Ever Happens" meme taken in the reverse is at least partly if not completely wrong.
This is the first severe chastisement the Islamic Republic of Iran has received for being the enemy of all who live (the war with Iraq was long ago and Saddam's ... greed??). As someone old enough to remember the hostage crisis which Carter characteristically didn't treat as an act of war, this is by proxy long awaited payback. As a child of the Cold War when the number of nukes in the Soviet inventory got up to 40K, I'm totally in alignment with not allowing the Twelvers who run Iran to get nukes.
There's a good chance the regime will fall (or perhaps it could just go full lethal against protests if/when they happen ... but a failure to do that was the spark that ended the Shah's regime).
Unless Iran already made some nukes and has managed to keep them from being destroyed, they aren't going to get any in the foreseeable future even if that one facility doesn't get a B-2 MOP dropping visit.
So I claim something happened.
