"content": "I'm gonna turn up the geological nerdiness to a macro scale for a minute...\nThis is a syncline:\nhttps://dawn.blossom.band/6f1d9f349f6fe1640ea2b0d1081ff8c5767f91f625b3d0cdbdbdc422789f60bc.jpg\nNot far off, to what would be the left in this photo, is a thrust fault subduction zone where the younger plate was overtaken by an older plate. (It's a cool spot to explore. There's a 2 ft wide creek at the center of it. Within a couple of steps, you can be in 2 very different geologic, and in turn ecologic, environments.) The massive thrust pressure and relatively high rate of speed at which the thrusting events occurrd created a series of dramatic synclines and anticlines that make up the backbone of the entire ridge. This particular section buckled and collapsed, creating the canyon that channels the river that is there today.\nhttps://dawn.blossom.band/be8a44c08c0ca8fdf0a0f314dea88eee30b82719d85e6e0d6289a65a651fe444.jpg",
