The video game Quake is 30 years old today.
I played it with a 14.4k (0.0144 mbit/sec) modem with a 200 millisecond ping. Also back then internet was billed by the minute, I think was 4p per minute at peak time. RIP my parents phone bill.
My mum got annoyed with me once being online all the time so she confesquated my modem cable for two weeks. Somebody from IRC rang my house to check if I'd died.
