I'm not sure what happened that time. I think it was a fluke. I started printing the exact same file again to see if it happened every time, but then I realized I can check the threads with that failed print. They were still too tight, so I aborted the re-print. I got the tolerance right eventually.

I never did do anything to fix the issue partway up the shaft, hence my conclusion that it was a fluke. Maybe the spool got tangled and caused an airgap before it snapped out of it? We'll never know.
