Well, this meanders into other issues. Firstly, it takes two to tango, haha. You might argue that’s also the case IRL. But physical presence early on creates a richer experience. Secondly, we tend to associate screens with dreams. And we forget dreams really fast, don’t we? Because both imaginaries are somewhat out of our direct control. Thirdly, the bonding actions are often consumed virtually and our nervous systems rarely feel the need to bring those connections IRL. The brain gets stimulated and that’s the end of it. Fourthly, we are adapted for survival. Thus, meeting IRL poses all kinds of risks: disappointment, mismatch, disagreement, time, money, energy, etc. I mean, there’s a real reason many people are unhappy with algorithms brokering their connections, from dating to business. Again, in my opinion, the future should be phygital, but that means a whole lot of listening, balancing, and adapting. And ain’t nobody got time fo’ dat, it seems.
