Sadly Latinos ARE the main character now because they actually had children and they don't have suicidal self-loathing the way modern whites do. He can't really blame them for still having the will to live.
Interestingly in my travels around the Midwest recently I see more Latinos here now than ever before and often speaking American English with no accent, i.e. they were born and grew up here, so we've gotten to the point where replacement is already well under way.
