This is where MY journey started. At least in terms of computers I owned. (I was addicted to the Apple ]['s at school.)
My dad brought it home from his various tag sale adventures. It had the manual, a cassette recorder, and the RAM pack that, yes, wobbled dangerously.
We had it hooked up to a small black and white television in the kitchen area where I was _enthralled, I tell you_.
From there I think it was a TI 99/4A for a brief window (month or two?) before the RF modulator burned out.
And then... hell, I'm not sure, but I likely moved on to the TRS-80 Model II from there. LOVED that machine. I learned so much, including working with TRS-DOS and Z80 assembler.
And one day I was offered a VIC-20 with an BASIC expansion cart, but I could ONLY KEEP ONE.
I could not have chosen more poorly.
I was gutted. The cartridge advertised a 1024x1024 graphics mode, which sounded incredible. So I made my choice... and I then only afterward discovered it was a virtual coordinate system. It was still whatever low-res jank the VIC was riding down on at the time.
Still, despite the scars, I came away wiser.
After that, I moved to a C128D, got online (BBSes), and then I killed THAT, and moved onto a PC.
And the rest was history. :P (All the while I was lusting after an Amiga 500. ;D)
