The room was packed. Everyone was there for the Nostr talk, to hear from people who truly know what they're talking about: ROCKSTAR (nprofile…qhqe), Derek Ross (nprofile…8f86), and many others.
But I was up first. The schedule was already running late.
So I walked onto the stage in the biggest Bitcoin conference in the world and did something nobody else had dared to do yet: I asked everyone to use Nostr. Live.
"Zap me," I said. "Your zap, your Nostr profile, and your message will appear live on the screen next to me."
Nostr can be a little shaky. This demo had every chance to fail.
And the best part?
It did.
My Minibits (nprofile…phgj) wallet never received the payments. No zap came through. There I was, on stage, in front of a packed room at the biggest conference in the world, telling people to use Nostr... and it didn't work.
Honestly, it couldn't have been a better demonstration of how much work we still have to do.
Luckily, the room was full of Nostr believers. They didn't laugh at the failure. They understood exactly why it mattered.
