Every year in the winter I make plans for possible summer backpacking trips. I always plan more than I will be able to do to accommodate the vagaries of wildfires, sickness, permits, etc. So far the '26 short list looks like:
1. Summit Mt Shasta
2. Circumnavigate Mt Glacier
3. Teton Crest Trail
4. Wind River Range (Titcomb to Cirque of Towers)
What about you? If you had a week to spend anywhere in the American west (remote alpine preferred) where would you go?
