When did silence learn our names?
When did comfort turn to caution,
And familiar eyes become distant shores?

Once, our laughter flowed like rivers,
Effortless beneath an open sky.
Now we stand on opposite banks,
Wondering where the water changed its course.

Life moved quietly, then all at once
A relentless tide we failed to see.
And in its hurried rush,
It carried pieces of us away.

We never meant to drift apart.
We were simply swept by time,
Two hearts holding on,
Until the current grew stronger than our hands.
