When you tax imported drugs (via a tariff), what happens is my ER starts seeing people with what are now emergencies because they suddenly can’t afford their medication. Most people pay some amount out of pocket for medication in the US. Many drugs simply are not made stateside anymore. If you suddenly drop a tariff on those drugs, nobody starts making them here tomorrow, but people do stop being able to afford them tomorrow, and some of those people die. Thanks asshole.
