ガザの旧教会を通り過ぎると、600人のイスラム教徒とキリスト教徒が共に避難していた光景が思い出されます。飢餓の中、私たちは床を共にし、わずかな食料を分け合い、安全な場所を求めていました。しかし、この聖域さえも予告なしに攻撃され、中にいた人々が死傷しました。今日、私はただの教会ではなく、悲劇が起こる前に何百人もの人々を温かく包み込んだ場所として、この教会を見ています。

Passing by Gaza’s Old Church, I recall 600 Muslims and Christians seeking refuge together. We shared the floor and scarce food during starvation, seeking safety. Yet, even this sanctuary was struck without warning, killing and wounding those inside. Today, I don’t just see a church, but a place that embraced hundreds before tragedy struck.
