TIL that, after Greece's Christianization, the Greeks of Eleusis venerated Demeter as "Saint Demetra". Her story had many similarities to the myth of Demeter and the locals decorated her ancient statue with flowers for good harvests. In 1801, Edward Clarke stole her statue and moved it to England.
