The real "tragedy" of it all is that the campus has at least one of the giant bruker robot changers that does maybe a couple hundred tubes, but it's on an instrument that was built before topspin could auto lock & shim. So it can run automation software, but every sample needs to have the exact same solvent and preferably similar concentration and sample volume. Which means you use it for undergrad teaching labs and like nothing else. And it requires clearing it with the director to set it up, because it isn't normally running. In fact there might be two instruments capable of this.
