GMO is when the genome of the plant is directly edited.

Hybrid is when two usually non-GMO strains are crossed to maximize productivity. It is used heavily to produce chicken, and also for plants. If you continue breeding from such plants the hybridization effect dissipates and productivity drops.

Heritage seeds are those which ppl have collected themselves for planting again. They are not hybrid, so if you keep planting from them there is no productivity reduction down the line.

Any non-GMO seeds, hybrid or heritage, can be used to produce organic crops.
