The thing is not everybody wants to have some sort of big, diverse discussion field. Some people just want to have a peaceful online experience chatting with people that they share common interests and opinions with. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
The problem arises when people try to force one experience over another onto other people. That's why I don't like things like Bluesky. The majority of that platform is one type of person, and you don't have a choice. Whereas, on a general purpose platform where you have people of all walks of life, you can choose whether or not you want to have that broader discussion field.
