An environmental activist in her early twenties who I realised I hadn't seen anything from in a long time just popped back up on my Instagram feed looking noticeably thinner and more tired than the last time I saw her stuff. Turns out she had a covid infection and now has type 1 diabetes from it. And we've just decided as a society to accept that this happens to a percentage of people haven't we? Like we could be masking and cleaning the air and offering free vaccinations, but instead we've just decided this is a normal thing that happens to people now.
