Due to the screwy nature of the environment here and the people (everyone for themself) I seem to have taken to heart a phrase either from O.T.O. literature or something by Crowley (maybe Thelema):
Know, dare and remain silent.
And while there is a core of progressives, most people are judgy AF. That's why (here) the whole thing with the seekers and the filtering and self-selection seems to work out.
