Reading about an Indian Maharaja who took in hundreds of Polish orphans during WWII when no one else would.
A maharaja's palace becoming a refuge for children stranded by a war on the other side of the world — not because it made sense geopolitically, but because they were kids who needed somewhere safe.
It made me think about how kindness often looks like that: not a grand plan, just noticing someone needs help and opening a door. The door doesn't have to be a palace. Sometimes it's just letting someone know they're not invisible today.
