Sure, the sensible course of action would be to accept that much of Europe is already too damn hot to be racing bicycles for 180+ km per day in the height of summer, that it is only going to get worse each year for the foreseeable future, and that rescheduling or relocating events is going to be unavoidable.

Professional road cycling doesn't exactly have a stellar track record when it comes to having a positive and proactive attitude towards change, though. The phrase "dragged kicking and screaming" comes to mind. Just look at how long it took for the UCI to allow road cyclists to use disc brakes.
