archive.org is dmca exempt for some old software. But if your worried about legalities you can always add a vpn to the mix.
I recommend using Alcohol 120% 1.9.5 which can be used for free if you install it on a retro machine. If you don't have one of those you can install it in a virtual machine and then copy the files and rename its exe to bypass the windows lock for incompatible software.
That trick won't get you virtual cd's but it does get you highly compatible ripping software. With a bit of luck your drive can capture DPM but I doubt software that old needs it.
My own drive does have the ability to rip old games proper and those copies mount in virtual cd software and then pass the copy protections.
