Yes. When mothering happens within the context of a community and a network of activities - weaving, foraging, etc - it's totally different, especially when those activities are central to the survival of the community.

People seem to look back fondly on women being isolated at home with kids, but that's a relatively recent phenomenon and makes no sense for most women.
