100% worth the space and effort to set up…
Built a system where we put 3 pallet boxes in place / tarped against leakage and covered well / 1 year worth of material in pallet 1, then after a year start filling pallet 2, then pallet 3… by the time pallet 3 was filled pallet 1 was more than ready for the garden… then you just continue the system and every year you’ve got a mountain of awesome organic material to build your soil with
It doesn’t smell as much as you would think! Once you learn to cover with sufficient material after doing your business… And honestly, once you get used to hauling the bucket out and doing clearing duty, you can’t help but love to see the pile grow and appreciate how much organic matter you are saving from waste…
Imagine every calorie you spend money and energy on to bring from the outside world to your farm or that you grew yourself or hunted… then imagine that normally that organic material is wasted along with a ton of fresh water… it’s honestly crazy
All of that “waste” is black gold and could be elevating the health and nutrient density of your garden - and all it takes is a couple pallets, some tarp material, some hardware, some wood, and some organic material…
I live out of a truck now, and I actually travel with a dry toilet called a Boxio / just a plastic box with a separator system and biodegradable plastic bags 🙏🏼 if I can do it living out of a truck, anyone with a farm can do it!
