Now the inappropriately named "Leonidas" is providing the 106th fork of Bitcoin, for storing pornography.
Despite what anyone may think about Spammers, Ordinals, Pornographers, Runists and other types, what these people are doing is the correct thing; launch your own altcoin and see if the market accepts it. That's the Free Market.
When they release this client, if it tries to usurp Bitcoin, it will fail. They know this. What will be created is an Altcoin.
This Altcoin will not start from 0, but will begin with the chain of blocks of bitcoin. They can legitimately offer users an alternative to bitcoin where all their previous interventions remain intact, and King Leonidas can build his own impenetrable empire on the piled up rubble he inherited from bitcoin.
They can claim they're the next iteration of bitcoin, a more free, "True to Bitcoin" chain of blocks, and anything else they want to say about it, true or not, and no one is harmed by it in any way.
This is in fact what Bitcoin Core should have done.
This announcement is very bad for Bitcoin Core. There is a new competitor in the Ordinals/Runes space that has infinitely more credibility than Core does, who, once they are forked out of real Bitcoin (Knots) cannot credibly present themselves as Ordinals Friendly, since they've openly virtue signalled against Ordinals.
Core will have nowhere to go; they will have been rejected by bitcoiners, and Ordinals people and will have no constituency at all. Core will finally be dead.
