Tacoma, too.
You use to be able to ride the interurban streetcar all the way from Spanaway (suburb south of Tacoma) to the Whidbey Island ferry terminal up in Mukilteo, and even on to Everett. For context, this was before there were even paved roads connecting all of these places.
The main way to get around before the streetcars/interurbans was just boats.
