I guess its significance was in how it was so broadly applied given the super broad, vaguely-defined terms "war on terror" & "unlawful enemy combatant."
Even at that, its scope was limited. And besides the Civil War, the other suspension cases listed in my 3rd post's article were also limited in scope and duration, upon further reading.
