Before Christianity, the predominant religion here has been Tengrism which has left a strong attunement to Nature in more than a few of us. We have/had many prominent psychics and it's still possible to hear of some old lady in a nearby village that receives visits from all over.
My "local point of view" is being skeptical re widespread adoption. Giving magick to people stuck in survival mode feels like arming chimps with assault rifles.
