Dexed is not loosely based on the DX7. It even takes DX7 SysEx data. So, the GUI is not DX7, but the guts are very very DX7.
Unfortunately it is not distributed with UbuntuStudio any more, most like for Ubuntu-religions reasons. There is a download, though, from the nightly builds, also as CLAP and VST3 for Linux.
