“It is not necessary to use violence to suppress any uprising. Methods like Hitler’s are outdated. It is enough to create a form of collective conditioning so powerful that the mere thought of rebellion no longer crosses people’s minds.
We will broadcast massive amounts of entertainment programs on television that appeal solely to emotions or instincts. People’s minds will be occupied with useless or frivolous things.
Thinking can be blocked by constant chatter and music. We will place sexuality at the forefront of human interests. There is no better social sedative. In general, we will shape things so that the seriousness of existence disappears.
Everything of value will be ridiculed, while frivolity and superficiality will be promoted, so that public euphoria becomes the measure of human happiness and the model for freedom.
