#WritersCoffeeClub Apr. 26: Recommend a nonfiction book about writing.
I'm pretty sure my English textbooks were old enough that anyone reading this has had time to read them. 🤷♂️
Honestly, though? Bookfox makes good general writing videos. I don't always agree with him or think his advice is 100% sound, but it's validating a bit to load up a video and just be like, "yeah, I was already doing all that." There are a couple others I could recommend as well if anyone is interested, approaching fantasy specifically or just coming at it from a different angle as someone from the publishing side.
I don't and really have never needed a whole book to tell me how to write. I just made more things like what I'd read. It's good to see what others are saying for a reality check, but honestly, trying to change what I'm doing too much just means it doesn't work. I've had a lot of opportunity to hone my craft.
