This is the piece I’ve struggled to fully understand. Killing off large segments of the population sees like dumb idea; where will the oligarchs draw their working classes from?
With Covid, you could sort-of understand their dark logic in that the virus disproportionately affected the old and the immunocompromised, which from the view of the immoral oligarchs, are a drag on the system. But if the next pandemic is less discriminate and kills off a broader section of the population, particularly workers, how is that a win?
As far as the Russia connection I don’t doubt that plays a part, but I haven’t seen a lot of information out of Russia as to how their population weathered the pandemic.
