A conversation I had with four Canadians while out cycling in Mallorca yesterday.
They asked me what I did & I said “I’m an astronomer”.
They were amazed & said they’d never met one before.
I replied “that’s funny – I meet them all the time” 🤪
Dad jokes aside, it makes sense: there’s roughly only one professional astronomer for every million people on the planet, so the chances are slim.
And asking every astronomer to have an individual chat with a million people would be a challenge 🤓🖖
