Bloomberg reports that cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has detected a "dusting attack" involving nearly 12,000 small cryptocurrency transfers linked to HTX. These transfers, ranging from cents to a few dollars, were reportedly sent from a wallet identified by Arkham Intelligence as associated with HTX. Kraken stated that some customer accounts were temporarily locked due to these transactions, which the exchange characterized as an attempt to trigger compliance reviews by spreading potentially sanctioned funds. The transfers occurred between August 17th and August 24th. Kraken has since reinstated access for affected customers and continues to hold the suspected sanctioned funds. HTX has denied responsibility for initiating the transfers and indicated that it is investigating the matter, suggesting potential misattribution of the addresses or malicious third-party activity.
