Sadly not much will change I'm afraid. Just like when M$ bought github.
However, now at least there is a large dedicated, community driven, user first, instance so unlike the time when people could choose between gitlab (not that much better) or obscure instances scattered around the net, there is a chance more people will just move. Specially that forgejo and folks at codeberg are rather competent bunch.
BTW what's the state of forgejo fediverse features?
