If your Bitaxe is running hotter than it used to, the thermal paste between the ASIC chip and heatsink is the first thing worth checking. Paste dries out over time, contact degrades, and temps creep up even at stock settings.
This video covers the full process on a Bitaxe Gamma that was overheating at stock settings:
-What thermal paste actually does and why miners start running hotter over time. -Baseline temps in AxeOS before the swap. -Materials needed for the job. -How to safely remove the heatsink, clean off the old paste, and apply fresh paste. -After results in AxeOS to show the difference.
With summer ambient temps climbing, this is a cheap bit of maintenance that can keep a miner stable through the hottest months. The process takes only a few minutes and applies to most Bitaxe models and similar home miners.
