these are all fair points. One thing I forgot to mention is that a lot of these games are also going style over substance. And their loops become extremely shallow. I think of games like Spiderman or Horizon. Games that look amazing but ultimately are barely games. They're more movie than game. What if they spent less money texturing the face and more into the game itself? I guess this is why I don't mind games looking crappy on the surface if their gameplay makes up for it. All in all maybe games should come down in price. Or at least come down in scope since feature creep is unsustainable.
