I think there’s a difference between the puritans and the plebs who just want Bitcoin to be money. Privacy makes money better so it’s not against the monetary maximalist view.
Unfortunately the puritans are the only ones offering a path towards mitigating spam at the moment. IMO it’s fine to use what the puritans build now and move elsewhere later when there are more options to choose from.
