So what, am I not allowed to want the OS-level stability of Debian paired up with recent versions of my favorite stuff?

It'd be lovely if that were always the case. But I'm pretty sure there's always orphaned dependencies on my system every time I use the native package manager to uninstall something. (admittedly, though, this can happen with Flatpak too--though I prefer it there than in my distro packages)
