I think the Valoi is a better option, but, as you say, it is expensive. The Essential Film Holder is cheap and cheerful and it works fine.
You said you like physical prints. The Canon Selphy printer is cheap and works fine if you are OK with postcard-sized prints. It's great for printing photos taken with your mobile phone, too. I have a Selphy printer (terrible name), although I also have a darkroom for B&W prints.
