As the crisis in university finances continues to deepen, lenders (of which the leaders are Barclays & Lloyds, with nearly £2bn of Uni loans between them) are doing two things:
moving to secure refinanced loans against university property (to ensure they're preferred creditors should a uni become insolvent);
and becoming more interventionist, demanding business plans to restore financial stability as conditions of refinancing.
Financial distress is now their key focus
