It struck me this morning why does -m * -n = m * n and not -(m * n)?
m * n = m + m ... + m (where the number of '+m's is equal to n)
So why is -m * -n not equal to -m + (-m) ... + (-m), ie -(m * n)?
I hope the explanation of my puzzlement is clear. As you can see, I lack the vocabulary to express it properly.
