I hear what you're saying, but, on the other hand...my identity is my property. My voice, my face -- shouldn't be used without my permission, shouldn't be marshaled in support of a cause I disagree with, etc. (On the strictly horizontal plane, i.e., socially and politically), I own myself.

Pedos could be dealt with by vigilantes, sure, but then what about false accusations? There needs to be some way that we, as a society, protect the innocent. Justice is both outcome and -- in a civilized society -- process.
