I can assure you that most people with organized labor backgrounds are EXTREMELY quick studies in understanding power, organizing, and getting up to speed about the peculiarities with a given sector’s working conditions. I had the great fortune to be part of a union with enough resources for 3 staff and none had a higher ed background but were amazing at advocating for us and our needs.
