I think Nolan's chosen theme of Odysseus feeling regret about enabling brutality basically *demanded* uncomfortable depictions of violence that never, ever came.

Yes, I see that I have a higher than average tolerance, but I do think SOMETHING somewhere in that film needed to cross the line into something people really don't want to look at.

If we can't handle even the *slightest* taste of the violence this movie is supposedly about, how are we meant to process it?
