Here's some potentially good news:
The Labour Govt. has appointed Tom Riordan as their North envoy with a remit to look at ways to boost the North of England's economic prospects. As an ex-chief executive of Leeds city council he should know the patch & its challenges well... first stop: a Northern transport strategy!
Now we've been here before (Northern Powerhouse etc.) but perhaps this time it will work?
An early win on transport would help!
