Not sure TCAS has auto steer. At least it does not in the smaller planes I am typically in.
The “Traffic, traffic” call will always get you attention FAST and then those of us in back will immediately try to spot the other aircraft if able then relay position to the pilot
Like "got the contact 3 O'Clock and low with the clock position always relative to the pilot. We have reward and sideways facing seats so its always in reference to the pilots position
