I see what you mean and that makes a lot of sense. Speeding is similar: why ticket me if I didn’t hurt anyone? This makes me wonder how policing should work in anarchy or libertarian governance structures.
So for example. If I saw someone driving erratically, I’d want someone to stop them if I don’t have the means to do so myself. Not to ticket them per se but let them know they should sober up a bit before heading on their way. Like, “Yo, other people live here and don’t feel safe with you driving drunk.” It’s like stopping your friend from doing something stupid.
This leads me to assume in total anarchy or libertarian contexts there would still be a demand for these types of policing because the people within the community might want these sorts of guidelines in place. Not all of them would of course so the people who don’t want those types of policing would just move to jurisdictions where drunk driving is completely allowed. I suppose that’s how libertarian governance works? Am I seeing this right?
