If by "faster updates" you meant having the bleeding edge newest versions of packages - yes, that is possible. But there is a trade off: newest packages might not be tested sufficiently and might cause some issues. That is why rolling distros have more (and usually better) handbooks, wikis and announcements than other distros.
On my Gentoo I run updates twice a week, more or less. And even if I install stable versions only, there may be even 100+ packages to be updated.
