Draft NIP-TPLD proposes encrypted ephemeral location events
On April 1, 2026, Masonavic submitted nostr-protocol/nips PR #2309 with draft NIP-TPLD: Transient Private Location Data for Nostr.
The draft proposes sharing encrypted geohash data with intended recipients by putting NIP-44-encrypted payloads inside a new ephemeral event kind, 20411. The mechanism is a proposed event format for private location-sharing events, not a deployed behavior change.
Caveat: because the evidence is only a draft PR, it supports claims about the proposed format. It does not establish that relays will avoid storing ephemeral events, or that recipient trust can be enforced at the protocol level.
